Problem to be Solved:

Where do apples store the best?

Hypothesis:

I think that the apples in the insulation room will store the best because the insulation room has the right amount of humidity and temperature in it. I think that the apples outside will store the worst because the temperature differs and there is a lot of light.

Procedure:

1. Pick the Ark Black apples.
2. Put three apples in five environments.
3. Check the apples every week or so.
4. Weigh them before and after the experiment to determine how much juice they lost.
5. Determine which is best by cutting one apple open in each environment to see if it is rotten (brown).

Control Group:
Insulation room or the refrigerator.

Variables:
Environment Temperature Light Humidity
Insulation Room Cool Little light Very Low
Refrigerator Cold Little light Low
Outside Cold / Warm Half of the day Both high and low
Cellar Cool At times Medium
Upstairs Warm Almost the whole day Pretty low

Conclusion:

In conclusion I found that the apples that were in cool, low humidity, and places with little light stored the best. So in my project the insulation room and the refrigerator had the best apples. The upstairs and downstairs apples rotted the fastest. The apples that were outside rotted in between the other places and they rotted all at once. If I would do this project again I would check the apples more often than I did and also weigh them each time. I would change the experiment by putting more than just one kind of apple in the environments at different times of the year. I also put more than three apples in each environment.

Biblical Application:

Is it not laid up in store with Me, sealed up in My treasuries? Deuteronomy 32:34

This connects with my project because I am doing apple storage. I am trying to find the best place to store apples. Where should we be storing our "treasures"? This verse is saying that everything good is stored up in heaven with God. No one can change God's mind of what is going to happen in the future with his children, Christians. He controls everything that happens to us. He controls what we will do and say. We make the choices where we will store our works. The good works please God and the bad works displease Him. He keeps all the sins and temptations away from us like the storage room keeps all the diseases and insects and other things away from the fruits or vegetables. Satan and Hell are where our bad works or choices are stored. He is like the storage room where there are many temptations and sins. You should be storing your works with God and His angels, not with Satan. Unlike in my project the bad storage room lets diseases and insects to get to the fruit or vegetable you are storing, with God and Heaven are the best places we can store our works. Without Him we cannot grow spiritually and cannot be safe from Satan. Where are you storing your "treasures"? I hope that you are keeping all that you have in God's hands.
