When you burn materials, what materials are air pollution? Hypothesis:The plastic cup will cause the most air pollution. Procedure:
Measure the weight of the cups (plastic, Styrofoam, and paper), the three pieces of foil and the filters (with no pollution). Go outside and place a plate on the ground. On top of the plate in this order place the following: one piece of foil, then a cup. Get a pipe and attach one of the filters on it with paper clips. Light two matches and put in the cup. Put the pipe with the filter attached over the burning cup which is all on the plate. Then measure the filter with pollution on it and subtract that amount from how much the filter weighed before there was pollution on it. To find how much pollution went into the atmosphere you subtract how much the cups weighed before they were burned and how much they weighed after they were burned.
In thinking that the plastic would cause the most air pollution, not the paper, my hypothesis was wrong. The paper cup lost almost 4 times as much weight as the plastic cup, and 1.5 times as much weight as the styrofoam cup. I thought that the plastic would cause the most air pollution, but it didn't. The paper caused the most air pollution. Biblical Application:
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God. Hebrews 9:14 |
