Problem to be Solved:

How to keep your hair dye from fading.

Hypothesis:

The chlorine will make the hair dye fade the fastest because of the bleach. Bleach makes colors fade so I think it can make hair dye fade too.

Procedure:

Get real natural blond, red and brown hair samples. Divide each color hair into four groups. Dye half of the hair from all four groups from each natural hair color with red dye.

Test 1: Let one group of hair from each natural hair color lay in direct sunlight for two weeks.

Test 2: Mix two drops of bleach with one cup of water.  Make four cups of the water / bleach solution. Soak one group of hair from each natural hair color in one of the water / bleach solutions for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes remove the hair and rinse with water. Repeat this process each day for two weeks.

Test 3: Mix 1/2 tablespoon of shampoo with one cup of water.  Make four cups of the water / shampoo solution. Soak one group of hair from each natural hair color in one of the water / shampoo solutions for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes remove the hair and rinse with water. Repeat this process each day for two weeks.

Test 4: Heat the flat iron until hot. Flat iron one group of hair from each natural hair color for 2 minutes. Repeat this process each day for two weeks.

Compare the dyed half of each group of hair to the not dyed half and to dyed and not dyed hair not exposed to any of the tests.

Conclusion:

My hypothesis was proven wrong. I thought that the bleach water would make the hair dye fade the fastest, but the shampoo faded the hair dye the fastest. The bleach was very close, almost the same as the shampoo. The sunlight was next. The sunlight made the hair dye a little bit lighter than at the beginning of the project. The flat iron was not only bad for the hair dye but also very bad for the hair. It made the hair split and dry out. That flat iron also made the hair dye fade in spots.

Biblical Application:

Luke 12:7 says, "Indeed the very hairs on your head are all numbered." That means that God knows all about you and cares for you.
