Do boys have a natural advantage to perceive the depth of an object? Hypothesis:I think that boys have better perception than girls when using both eyes and when limited to one eye. I think this because my dad is better at parallel parking than my mom. Procedure:
I made a device that tests a person's depth perception in three different ways. I tested fifteen boys and fifteen girls and recorded the results.
Control & Variables: My control group is made up of fifteen girls using both eyes to complete the tests. As a variable each person completed the tests using only one eye, eliminating depth perception. Results: Number of successful tries out of 30
Although the boys did slightly better than the girls in the testing I cannot conclude that the boys have better depth perception than the girls because the difference between the scores is very small. If I did further testing I would test the right eye without the left as well as the left without the right. Biblical Application:When God made our eyes, He made them just right. Exodus 4:11 says, "And the Lord said to him 'Who has made man's mouth, or who makes him dumb or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord?'" And in a different sense, the Gospel is related to our eyes. "The Lord opens up the eyes of the blind" is what Psalms 146:8 says. The blind are the unbelievers, and He shows the way of salvation in His Word. |
