Problem to be Solved:

Which of the primary colors are birds attracted to?

Hypothesis:

I think the birds will be attracted to the red bird feeder because red is a vibrant color.

Variables:

Three bird feeders. One feeder is painted red, one green and one blue.

Equipment:

Sunflower seeds, corn, three bird feeders, notebook, field guide.

Procedure:

1] Paint three bird feeders the three primary colors: red, green and blue.
2] Fill each bird feeder with bird food.
3] Set each bird feeder one meter apart.
4] Observe how many birds come to each individual bird feeder.
5] Rotate the placement of the bird feeders every so often.
6] Record the amount of birds and type of birds that arrive at each feeder.
7] Add up the amount of birds to determine which color the birds prefer.

Results:

The birds went to the green feeder most often. The red feeder had the fewest birds.

Conclusion:

Through this project, I solved that birds are most attracted to green. They are at least attracted to red. My hypothesis was wrong. I thought that the birds would be most attracted to red because it is a vibrant color, but they are not.

Biblical Application:

This experiment attempted to find out which of the primary colors birds are attracted to by using bird feeders. We as humans have favorite colors, and birds are probably attracted to specific colors too. God created us to enjoy His creation and colors are a part of His creation. He made us to multiply on earth and be fruitful.

“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28

My project relates to this verse because we are to fill the earth and multiply. When we do experiments with the creatures God created, we can fill the earth with new facts that may help us in the near future. Some experiments may even point out something God is trying to teach you and help you understand. God can teach us to use any aspect of His creation to learn something new about the things He created, such as birds. We use something as small as birds to show us how creative and intelligent and incredible our Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ really is.
